GYMNASTICS FOR ALL

(GFA)

Gymnastics for all embraces all aspects of gymnastics and is accessible to everyone.

Rather than focusing on just general gymnastics (Floor and Vault main disciplines), GfA incorporates all of the gymnastics disciplines including freestyle, acrobatics, aerobics, rhythmic, trampoline and tumble as part of our comprehensive program. But why stop there?! GfA can also cross link disciplines such as performing a beam routine with rhythmic hand apparatus.

It’s about creating a maximum of opportunities for gymnasts to experience a range of skills and disciplines whilst experiencing the fun and enjoyment of taking part and the great feeling of achievement at the level of their your child’s choice. Individual and group activities take place to also encourage social interaction and self – confidence.

Our classes offer children aged 4 years (must be in full time school) to 14 years a structured gymnastics session including the GfA programme.

RISE GYMNASTICS

Recreational

Gymnasts are encouraged to work towards completing all the levels and earning their certificate and medal.

Exclusive to British Gymnastics members and partners (£20/year), Rise Gymnastics Programme and Award Scheme have been developed alongside insight from the gymnastics community – is a fun-packed program and award scheme that provides a progressive journey through recreational gymnastics.

EXPLORE is aimed at school-aged recreational gymnasts, who have either progressed through Discover or are participating in the sport for the first time. Explore encourages confidence through participation in a variety of exciting activities and provides gymnasts with the opportunity to explore a range of skills.

EXCEL is aimed at gymnasts who have already progressed through Explore, or if their skill level is already above those in Explore. Excel gives gymnasts the chance to continue to explore a range of fun and challenging activities and perfect their skills.

We monitor all the gymnast’s progress and regularly test them during each session. All recreational class children (1hr/week) work gradually through the BG Rise Gymnastics program starting with Core Skills 1 and moving up to level 4; Apparatus 1 and moving up to level 4 and Working Together 1 to 4. To pass these levels the gymnasts are assessed on 8 out of 12 moves, once they are able to perform these moves they have then passed their level, you will be notified via email through British Gymnastics confirming the achievement. If you wish to physically purchase the certificate and medal for a cost of £5, please let us know.

We recognise that our gymnasts have a broad range of ability and experience, and we also have a series of more advanced Gymnastics for All classes that gymnasts move into when invited to do so by their coaches.
ADVANCED CLASSES

1. Intermediate class

In the intermediate class the gymnasts (1.5 to 2hrs class/week) will work through the British Gymnastics Proficiency awards bronze, silver and gold. The gymnasts again have to pass 6 out 10 moves from each badge to pass their badges. We encourage the children to work all 10 moves on the badges to ensure they are working to their best ability.

2. Squad class

All our squads (over 2hrs a week) are preparing and working towards more competitive gymnastics on the Regional London Competition.

Intermediate and Squad classes are on an invite-only basis.

We look for potential young talent from as early as 5 years old. We do this by “spotting” children from any of our recreational classes by our senior coaches, and inviting these children on to further development by way of a “trial process” to potentially join one of our many Intermediate/Squad teams, which will best suit their age and ability.

ACADEMIC YEAR OUTLOOK

Annual Christmas Show

December is the month every child looks forward to with excitement as they will receive their presents, after performing to the Christmas choreography in front of their parents.

Perform Better In-House Competition

We hold the Perform Better In-House Competition (usually around May- June) where all our members regardless of ability are invited to take part. Children receive medals based on their performance on the day.

London GfA competition

For the more advanced children we also participate in The London Regional Competition, where we ended up as North London Club winners last year in one of the categories. The competition is held around June/July and is only by invite.

OUR MISSION

Our mission statement is to provide affordable opportunities to the local community to practice sports, and also to identify promising young gymnasts with potential to compete for regional and national competitions.
